Notre Dame enables data-driven outreach to boost fundraising
We threw some of the most complicated data and application code at the Snowflake and the system processed it easily with excellent results.

University of Notre Dame Deploys Snowflake for Data-driven Fundraising
University of Notre Dame
Notre Dame uses its data warehouse to assist them with targeted community outreach to the University’s 135,000 alumni population with campaigns to generate interest in funding endowments.
The University needed all its data from different sources in a single data repository. It also required quick access for up to 100 concurrent users during peak times, while significantly reducing system maintenance.
Notre Dame migrated from its on-premises, legacy data warehouse to Snowflake after considering few cloud-based solutions. Snowflake outperformed the competition with less cost and with its ability to scale compute and storage separately. Notre Dame can now scale up, down and out (concurrently) and only pay for the resources it needs.
Snowflake slashed query times from 30 minutes to less than a minute for up to 100 concurrent users with no loss in performance. Notre Dame streamlined the process of pulling data into the warehouse from numerous diverse data sources and dramatically reduced IT maintenance costs.
Notre Dame continues to enhance its data warehouse for additional applications, such as administering, tracking, and querying its student database to proactively address student needs and make the university even more successful.
